12 Jun 2008 - INSPIRE Lesson for Indigo Class Year 5
Dear Parents of Indigo class,
As part of encouraging all parents to be involved in our school, I am doing an INSPiRE lesson for Indigo Class.
Date: Thursday 12th June 2008
Time: 9am – 10:30am
Place: In the junior hall.
INSPiRE is a program other schools have tried and it has been highly successful. It is when a teacher leads a session for children and an adult they have chosen (this could be their parents, grand-parents, other relatives, friends of the family, or a sibling, all of whom should be over the age of 18) and they work on an activity/challenge together. It is a very special time for the child, as they have one to one adult attention for that time, and feedback from other schools has shown the adults who worked with the children gained a lot from it too.
The activities give an insight into the areas covered in the curriculum, but could also be continued at home if you wanted to. You and your child will need lots of newspaper.
It is really important that the child has their own adult and for this reason, children will not be paired up with another child in the class. For this reason, we will be providing a crèche for children under school age. There are 3 places and these need to be booked (using the slip below) and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The children without an adult will do a similar activity with Jill, Alison or Helen elsewhere in the school.
You will shortly be receiving a personal invitation from your child about the INSPiRE lesson. If you could respond to this as soon as possible, by filing in the slip below, this would be fantastic. I will need final numbers by Monday 23rd May, so I can put together all the resources for our lesson.
This is a program we are trialling at Muswell Hill. Your involvement and feedback from our session is vital, and could lead to it becoming a regular activity we do at our school.
